New obligations for e-shops: GPSR, DSA and more. Are you clear on everything?

In recent months, the legislative wheel has been spinning around e-shops. The new European regulations GPSR and DSA and the Accessibility Act have brought a number of obligations – and just as many questions. We have prepared an overview for you to help you get your bearings and make sure your e-shop complies with current legislation.

1. GPSR – product safety under supervision

The General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) has been in force throughout the EU since 13 December 2024. It applies to everyone who sells products to end customers – including e-shops.

What you should address:

  1. Do you have enough information about the safety of your products?
  2. Is it clearly stated who the manufacturer or importer is?
  3. Did you know that GPSR also sets new obligations for reporting hazardous products?

Supervision of compliance is the responsibility of, for example, the Czech Trade Inspection Authority or the State Office for Nuclear Safety.

📌 If you sell physical products, this regulation certainly applies to you. Check what you need to adjust in your e-shop.

2. DSA – when you collect content from users on the web

At the beginning of the year, the Czech Telecommunications Office (CTU) sent a message to many e-shops regarding the DSA regulation. If you have user content (e.g. reviews, comments, ratings) on your website, pay attention.

Your obligations under the DSA:

  1. Users must be able to report objectionable content – e.g. via a simple form or email.
  2. There must be a contact email for the CTU on the website – for example dsa@your-eshop.cz (it can be an existing one).
  3. In the terms and conditions, explain what content you allow and what you can delete.

The good news is that most small e-shops only have basic obligations. Detailed annual reports or risk assessments probably do not apply to you.

📘 We recommend: check out the practical DSA guide from the CTU, or read the clear article from Petra Dolejšová.

3. Accessibility – new law, familiar topic

The Law on Accessibility of Websites and Services came into force on 28 June 2025. If you are a micro-enterprise (less than 10 employees and turnover below €2 million), it does not apply to you.

✨ We cover the topic of accessibility in detail in a separate article already available on our blog – including what it means technically and practically for e-shop owners.

📋 Summary: what to watch out for?

✔ Do you have product information in accordance with GPSR?

✔ Do you allow reporting of objectionable content under the DSA?

✔ Have you published an email for the CTU?

✔ Are your terms and conditions up to date?
